Too Cute Tuesday {DIY Furniture Revamp}

Hey there deisgn/decor lovers!  I wanted to share with you this project I took on a few weeks back.  First, let me start by saying that I love thrifting!  It's essentially like going on a treasure hunt for me!  You never know exactly what you're going to find, but when you do find it, it's gonna be good!  So I went thrifting almost a month ago, just perusing for something fabulous, & you know when you find that something fabulous in the thrift store because it's like a light from heaven just shines down on that one piece.  Anyway, on this particular day I found a set of cane back chairs for $16.99!  They were in great condition for the most part, but as for thier look, well that's a horse of a different color....But that didn't deter me!  I knew that behind that pure ugliness was something beautiful inside dying to be exposed.  So I scooped those babies up with the quickness!  With alot of nurturing, and a few cans of paint, my cane back chiars soon had a new lease on life!  If you notice, I used them as seating for the Black & White Tupac Inspired Birthday Party I feautred a few weeks ago.  What do you think?
No sooner than the paint could dry on these beauties, I was back at it.  This time, the lucky peice was a roadside find!  You should have seen my hubbies face when I told him that "if that piece is still there when we come back, we're putting in the truck!" Lol!  Low & behold it was still there!  The piece is an old wooden radio cabinet.  I don't know exactly what I'm going to do with it yet, but I've been exploring my options.  When I'm done, you know I'll be back to share more pics with you here!

Poor shabby, dusty old thing...but not for long!!!

Until next time,

Birthday Dinner {Gentlemen Like Details Too}

Whoever said that men don't really care about details?  I might be inclined to disagree!  I think that given the right color scheme, & paired with a meaningful theme, you might find that your gentleman will be anxious to take in all the special touches implemented just for him!   Take a look at a few photos from this hip-hop inspired birthday dinner, styled for a die hard Tupac Shakur fan!

The sophisticated cane back chairs were thrift store finds which were revamped specifically for this dinner. {See the original chairs here}

Too Cute Tuesday {DIY Photo Booths}

Photo booths are all the rage now a days from weddings to kids parties.  Here's a way to incorporate a custom photo booth at your next event, & all of your events from here on out if you'd like....& the best part is they're made from refrigerator boxes!  {FYI, you can get these boxes for free at an appliance warehouse, like Sears}

Below is an example of you how can really get creative with these boxes, & customize them for a boy or girl's party, or just about any event you can think of!

I'm in love with almost anything that sparkles, & metallics definitely fit this bill.  With summer slowly winding down, & with fall's  inevitable approach, I've been compelled to reminisce about some of my favorite fall colors, & gold happens to be one of them.  Metallics have really been storming the decor scene with a vengeance, & understandly so as it makes for an incredible & stunning accent color to many color palettes.

Wedding Style Wednesday {Aisle Style}

Before you and your gown actually make an appearance on your wedding day, you have several opportunities to let your guests in on just how design savvy and stylish you really are.  One way of achieving this is by way of your ceremony aisle.  Long gone are the days of the hohum white paper aisle runners secured from the local wedding dealer.  Brides, along with their wedding sytlists, have become quite creative and very particular about the amount of attention that is given to their ceremony aisles, in turn making them nothing short of breathtaking!

Too Cute Tuesday {DIY Glitter Champagne Flutes}

Loving this!  On Mother's Day I tried a project very similar to this one, & you can see the photos of my finished project here.  It excites me however to see how here, it has been taken a step further with the addition of the letter "a" to add a bit of personalization.  Follow this link to get the full tutorial on how to recreate this look!
